Dear Sean
I know it's been a long time coming
But I had to take some time
To figure out what to say
To be honest
I'd rather be alone, stay at home
But if you're going to call me on the phone again
Then I'll test your untimely courage
Please read my invitation in the following verses
I'll meet you by the creek
Where Violet's library used to be
The place where we found out
There could have been a chance for
The you and me
You said that if we fall
We'd fall into place
Cause you believed in saving grace
And I believed in better days
Dear Sean
Your response was very kind
You even gave me a clear day and time to meet
And I'm looking forward to seeing your face
I'm sure it's weathered by the years away
I wasn't there to trace
And we can act like old friends
I'll keep my distance
Like the virus hit again
Doesn't it come in waves
The pain and the confusion
No, we didn't have 20/20 vision after all
But still you call
As if no time had passed at all
But I'll meet you by the creek
Where Violet's library used to be
The place where we found out
There could have been a chance for
The you and me
You said that if we fall
We'd fall into place
Cause you believed in saving grace
And I believed in better days
So tell me everything
Show me a picture of her diamond ring
I wanna live vicariously
Through your fiancé's Facebook posts
That show the world how happy you are
And I'll keep playing my guitar
Writing songs about the day that we first met
Cause how could I forget
When I met you by the creek
Where Violet's library used to be
The place where we found out
It was our only chance for
The you and me
You said that if we fall
We'd fall into place
Cause you believed in saving grace
And I believed in better days
But now you believe in saving face
And I'm longing for better days
Yeah you believe in saving face
And I'm hoping for brighter days
We can act like old friends
I'll keep my distance
Like the virus hit again
